Mr Yasa Karunaratne
Mr Karunaratne has made an invaluable contribution to SEARCC as Secretary General. He played a key role in the reestablishment of SEARCC after a period of inactivity in 2002 where he was elected unanimously as the Secretary General.
He was an active participant at SEARCC EXCO meetings since 1986 and in 1995 he was the Chairman of the most successful SEARCC’95 Conference in Sri Lanka. He was the President of SEARCC in 1995/96.
Mr Karunaratne is a founder member of Computer Society of Sri Lanka and was its President from 1991-99 and has served in the CSSL Council for nearly 30 years. He consolidated the position of the Computer Society as a strong professional body with recognition both locally and internationally.
He was the Chairman of Sri Lanka Information and Communication Technology Association from 2003-05 which was considered the voice of the ICT industry in Sri Lanka.
He Graduated with B.SC. honours from University of Ceylon and obtained his Masters in Computer Science from Colorado State University, USA. He has been a well-respected IT consultant to many Sri Lankan and International organizations. He was an Information Specialist from 1979-80 for the US Dept of Agriculture and a National Consultant to the United Nations in 1984.
Mr Karunaratne’s deep rooted vision and passion for excellence has been a mark of distinction. His contribution to the IT Profession and Industry is immeasurable.
